The list of the world’s most expensive wines is based on the average price of a standard bottle (750ml), counting all available vintages, yet not targeting the particular years of a wine. Information comes from a database of 42,910 price lists, totaling at 5,933,867 wine offers (taxes excluded). Wines produced in France’s Burgundy dominate the list. Among the top 50, 37 are Burgundy wines, including six from the Cote de Beaune and 31 from the Cote de Nuits.
